Daniel Lemma – Rebound

This truly is one of the best artists around imho. This is different from his previous work, it has evolved! I have only heard a few tracks and already it’s a favourite.

Daniel Lemma is a Swedish singer-songwriter born 1970. He is currently a member of the band Mo Blues. Daniel is originally from Nyhamnsläge in Skåne, Sweden, but nowadays lives in Gothenburg. Lemma’s biggest hit is the song If I Used To Love You which he both wrote and sung himself. The song is also the theme for Josef Fares movie Jalla! Jalla! from 2000.

The last week of every year I make a top 10 of all my favourite releases of 2009. This year I want to ask for some suggestions to add. First place is already take by Parov, but the other nice places are wide open. So suggest some new stuff that isn’t published here yet. And i might even consider knocking Parov from the first place. Movits! – Äppelknyckarjazz

Kent – Röd

 

They are Swedish alternative rock band founded in Eskilstuna in 1990, with the name Coca-Cola Kids. The band has had several big Swedish radio hits since the breakthrough single “Kräm”, from their second studio album. They are one of the most popular rock groups in Sweden, and describes themselves as “Sweden’s biggest rock band”, but are more or less unknown outside Scandinavia. Kent shortly attempted an international career with English versions of the albums Isola and Hagnesta Hill with accompanying U.S. tours for the former, but they gave up after not reaching the breakthrough they had hoped for.

Kent has been one of my favourite bands for a few years now. And they deserve some more international attention. I have all their album including the english ones. And i must say i prefer the swedish versions. So give this a try and fall in love with it.

Tegan and Sara – Sainthood

Sainthood is the title of sister act Tegan and Sara’s sixth full-length album. It also marks the first time that the duo, who always exaggerate their contentious relationship onstage, has ever written together. Shpongle – Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland

The Shpongle sound is a mix of mainly eastern ethnic samples and western contemporary psychedelic synth music. Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements. They are both responsible for the visionary input. According to one interview, they commonly visualize the music together before and during the creation process.

Kafka – Kafka

Tripped-out jazzy funk from Kafka — a hip Aussie combo with a really unique groove — one that draws from Afro Funk, 70s fusion, and 90s hip hop — the rolls the whole thing into a mad little blend that’s all its own! Most of the instrumentation is live, but the production is really what makes the set sparkle — as it gives the music a gritty sort of edge, and a laidback, almost spacey feel at times — especially on the slow funk numbers which really stand out as some of our favorites! The beats have this really gentle sort of groove — almost a handclap feel at times, and a bit like the vibe on some of the earliest Tribe Called Quest material — although more tuned towards a soulful style than a hip hop one.
