Dear fellows

I’ve been lacking attention to La Musique. I know. There are some requests I failed to meet and some broken links I forgot to fix, but this will change. I am deeply sorry. I’ll post new albums, fix some links and try hard to find the ones that have been requested. I see some of you are waiting for Miike Snow and I’m really sorry, but I’ve not found anything new so far. My luck might change on the upcoming days and I hope it does so I can post it here for you guys.

I don’t think I’m the only one to notice this, but there are so many new bands every day. It’s hard to follow and I’m not into everything new so I find myself stuck listening to the same things. My question is: What have you been listening to? What’s been in your iPod lately? What bands/albums do you turn the volume up to?

Take a minute to answer this simple question. Help me here, peeps!

I’ll see you around. Have a lovely day :)

M.

First tip is “Everybody Loves Irene”, a great Japanese trip-hop band. It was a great surprise to me. They are hard to find though. “Amana Melomé” has some very good tune. And why isn’t “Seu Jorge” here?
Probablt one of the best albums i found lately is “Bliss” with the album “No One Built This Moment”. Give “Oi Va Voi” a listen. And i shouldn’t forget “Zee Avi”… These are just some of the band i added to itunes in the past 4 weeks. If you need more, let me know :D

  2. Hi

My playlists are traveling between 3 styles basiclly: nu-jazz, coll jazz and trip-hop. Thats for shure that I love a lot of eletronic too, but the new band are too much “teenager” (no offense).

I recomend: Rubin Steiner, Bonobo, Rekevin, FlyKKiller, Recoil, (from 80’s Siouxsie & The Banshees, Depeche Mode, New Order), Belleruche, Maarten well did on say “Everybody Loves Irene”, Chet Baker, oh, thats a lot of good stuff coming out on trip-hop and Jazz…

I have a lot of other stuffs,

    Keep in touch!

  3. Oh, i forget to say:

The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (dark-jazz), Irmin Schmidt And Kumo (experimental), Lêndi Vexer (Argentina – Trip-hop), Ez3Kiel (France), Client (eletronic – Germany – UK), Skalpel (Polish)…

I realize it’s not new, so it may not be quite what you mean, but I’ve been hearing Crystal Castles in both the coffee shop I work in and the one I hang out at, and although I heard about them a year or so ago, I never got around to finding it. I figured I’d check here, but couldn’t find it, so otherwise…thanks for all you do.

    Cheers,
    Spencer

I concur on Bonobo, , Belleruche, Rekevin and Skalpel. And of course Depeche Mode. I don’t know most of the others. Worth checking out. I’ll have something to do tonight :-)

Crystal Castles is not for everyone. But it sure is some funky shit.

    Some other suggestions:
Galactic (US), Bliss (Denmark), Ashok (UK), Wet Cookies (austria) and Mamanet (Ukraine)

  6. Hi… I keep on tracking your blog all the time… Well, I’ve been listening to Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago, I’ve just had the chance to go to an Esperanza Spalding’s concert here in Sao Paulo and it was great, I may think people here will enjoy her….

  9. I’m a bit late, but I have Miike Snow (excellent), and if you want, I could up it. I just have to figure out how (I’m technologically retarded).

The best album of the year is by “Lee Fields & The Expressionists”, and is called “My World”. It’s a soul album, and I really don’t normally like that sort of thing. It sounds really old school…..perhaps like a rip of an old record, except I’m pretty sure it’s a new album. If you want to hear it, it’s on iTunes. Just outstanding.

  10. I’ve been listening to a lot of United Future Organization, Men from S.P.E.C.T.R.E. and Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra.

    Hope this brings some inspiration!

Nitin Sawhney! (all of the dics)
    Yo-Yo Ma plays Ennio Morricone

  13. If you like Miike Snow, try Dan Black’s album “Un”. Definitely cool.

One of my favorites lately has been an instrumental hip-hop album from switzerland…it’s called “Mickey Mouse Operation” from Little People. Quality.

If you like Belleruche, try Mr. Cooper or Mr. Hill. More awesome instrumental hip-hop (or is it trip-hop?)

    And some other quality:
Junior Boys – Begone Dull Care
    JJ – JJ No 2
    Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
    CFCF – Panesian Nights
    The Tremulance – Polaroids
    Weathertunes – Palm Beach
    Meanderthals – Desire Lines
    Aydio – Deltitnu EP
    Tycho – Past is Prologue
    Windsurf – Coastlines
